Here’s my latest Send Out Cards story…
For about the past 8 years we have spent a week in Door County, WI. They
call it the New England of the Midwest. It’s a peninsula with Green Bay waters
to the west and Lake Michigan to the east. It’s made up of quaint villages and
parks and even a few islands to explore. Each year I try to come up with a new
theme of things to check out. A few we have done were light houses, bead shops,
food markets, state and county parks, biking, snow shoeing etc.
~
This year was Barn Quilts. It’s something new, I ran across it online
while planning our trip. I searched for a map on line but the site wasn’t up
yet but it is now

What I did find on line was a YouTube video of Pam Peterson speaking about
the project started back in 2010. You can view it here

Our first stop into town was at the tourist center in Sturgeon Bay and they did have the
maps. They were the only ones we ran across the entire week that even knew what
the barn quilts were.
~
We spent parts of 3 days hunting them all down and taking pictures. When I
got back home I gave Pam a call to see what happened to the two we didn’t find
and she told me they weren’t up yet. We had a great chat and I got her contact
info so I could send her a card.
~
Then I got busy with my photos and creating a Send Out Cards card but not just
any card it had to be BIG to fit on all the pictures I had taken. The card was 8 1/2 x 11.
Here’s what I sent Pam This is the outside.
Top right corner is a shot of their website. Bottom right is the brochure. The 4 quilt blocks are located at the fair grounds. The computer screen has a shot of Pam’s video and I created a QR code that can be scanned with a smart phone that goes right to her video or you can use the included URL from your computer.

Inside I put photos of each barn and a close up shot of the quilt block.
After Pam received her card she gave me a call but I
wasn’t home so she left this great message I want to share.
I was happy I missed it because I was able to play the recording for my family. I really felt
happy she loved it so much and was sharing it with others in the office.

This is how BIG the card is that’s a 5×6 card one of the Barn owners sent me as a Thanks for the card I sent.

Then I got busy and created 21 5×7 cards one for each of the barn owners and here’s what they looked like. The map was off the website.

This is the inside of all the cards click on photo for a better view. Each has been saved as a picture plus
card incase they want to send some to family and friends. I can then share my design with them.
